Spring/Summer Activities
Ask any local why they moved here, or why they stay, and they are likely to tell you it’s for the peace and calm of the winter with a big swell of fun as the warm weather comes! There is no place quite like Sierra County in the summer. You can find a lifetime’s worth of outdoor activities to do. Kids float through town on inner tubes, while cyclists and hikers head off in every direction to explore the network of trails in the Lost Sierras. People wander the historic gold rush town galleries and shops, or park themselves on the benches along Main Street in Downieville or Hwy 49 in Sierra City, and watch the bustle of daily activity flow by.
And above it all, incredible azure skies, the beauty of Alpine lakes, and blackberry-lined spring-fed streams and creeks, all with the crown of the Snow Capped Sierra Buttes to inspire you to breathe life in full. It’s a good reason the days are long because that’s the only way to fit everything in.
