Dining in the Sierras

Such a special place is destined to draw special people. The towns that make up Sierra County are inhabited by some of the most incredible people who call Sierra County home. Musicians, artists, photographers, and of course wine-lovers, foodies, and more add to the community’s rich culture.   Truth is, you sort of work up an appetite here, and whether you’re looking for a fresh pizza, organic Mexican-fusion, or free-range burgers, we’ve got a collection of restaurants that get our mouths watering just talking about them.

We are a county known for playing hard, and that doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. In Downieville, you can wander Main Street and then check out the historic St. Charles Place Bar – a western-style saloon where poker games in the back rooms were legal just a few years ago. Or catch some live music riverside, or tuck into a wine bar and enjoy our friendly, festive atmosphere for yourself. Sierra City and Sierraville offer a more family-friendly environment, where you can sit at the counter of the Fork and Horn or the Red Moose Café and be served up some of the most hearty breakfasts in the Sierras!

If fine dining is what you’re after, why not pick out your own trout from the pond at the Sierra Pines Resort, or book your reservation months in advice for the hidden Sardine Lakes Resort, both wont disappoint!
